What You'll Learn

My Pedagogy

Vocal health is my number one priority as both a performer and a vocal instructor. The most important thing is not to create the perfect sound in the moment but to recreate that sound over and over again without damaging the voice. With my science-based teaching methods I will work with you to understand your vocal tract and develop your optimal sound. The basis of all of this is anatomy, alignment, and breathing.

Anatomy

As singers we are not as fortunate as a pianist or a bassoonist. Our musical instruments are intangible. So much of vocalizing comes down to guess work which we will diminish by learning the parts of our instrument. I will teach you about how our respiratory and auditory functions can greatly assist us in making voice instruction more accessible.

Alignment

Imagine trying to play a saxophone that is all bent out of shape. The different pathways of air would make it sound totally different, right? Our body is the same way. Just as a saxophone sounds best in a specific shape, so does our vocal tract. We'll work together to find the ideal alignment for your body and allow for seamless airflow through your vocal tract.

Breathing

Breathing is one of the most vital and yet one of the most misunderstood functions of the human body. We'll work together to put aside false societal notions of breathing and discover optimal use of your breathing mechanism for a rich, full, and healthy sound.
